Hi

I drive a 2001 Land Cruiser Cygnus, with is essentially exactly the same as the LX470, and similar to the Land Cruiser 100VX (South Africa). The rear coils need replacing and the part number from toyodiy is 48231-6A740 for both left/right. As the vehicle is seen as a grey import (to South Africa), our Toyota dealer does not have the part in stock, and need to order from Japan. The AHC version of the Land Cruiser 100, as well as some versions of the LX470, require the following part: 48231-6A710, which is in stock.

So does anyone know what is the difference between these two? Both is for AHC systems. Is it height, tension, ?

I understand you have an AHC-equipped 100/470/Cygnus, and asuming RHD.
If you normally drive with an empty car, get two of the 500mm ones (brown dot of paint). 48231-6A780
If you normally have a bit of junk at the back, get the 515mm ones. 48231-6B010
If you have xtra tank, steel bumper/carrier, drawers, etc, you need even beefier coils.

On my LHD HDJ100, I just put in one brown on the left (driver/tank side) and a purple on the right (lighter side). The neutral pressure didn't go down much. I don't know what was in there from before, but possibly purple ones - which have been carrying the load for at least 6 years. On a RHD, I think it makes sense to use the same type on both sides, as the driver on the RHS compensates for the tank on the LHS.
