It has been about 6 months since I purchased my LX and I have been diligently worked on my truck.
Pretty much changed every fluid and replaced all required and recommended parts to bring in tip-top shape.
Now, the truck runs amazing and ready for the long distance trip.

My goal for this build is to make the truck relatively as light as possible.
I'm only going to install Slee sliders and Wilco spare tire carrier w/ water jug + Hi-lift jack.

My only concern is the low hanging OEM rear bumper cover (especially the corners).
Does anyone know any aftermarket or cheap plastic rear bumper cover for 13-15LX for offroad use?
Or any other affordable rear bumper solution for moderate to somewhat challenging trails in Moab?
Just don't want to spend $3~4K for a steel or aluminum rear bumper w/ tire carrier.

Any thoughts?

The elusive lightweight rear bumper solution. No real answer atm. Though there are some options that come close like the LC200 Kaymar rear, Slee aluminum replacement bumper, Dissent, Victory. Wish there was a bumper slider type solution.

Curious why you're choosing to mount the spare on a Wilco? It's better off in the stock position unless that's taken up by something else? Can still fit pretty dang large tires under up to a 34.3" diameter.

You look like you have some serious meats already. I'd encourage more sensor lift. Between the tall tires and sensor lift that create up to ~5" total lift, there's less concern to dragging the rear end.

The cheapest rear is the steel RLC, but working around AHC pump has some issues. It’s not terribly heavy, and it doesn’t improve the ‘true’ departure angle at the bumper (stock bumper skin is close there too), otherwise it does a great job for what it is, solid armor at a good price. Rlc thread is usually on the first three pages or so.

You can run moderate trails in Moab with the factory plastic. I did Fins N Things and White Rim with the factory tupperware. There were 2 spots I scraped the bottom of the bumper on FNT - one drop in particular that I don't think you can avoid. Having the spare tire underneath actually helps protect your bumper as your tire will take the brunt of any impacts when it makes contact and slides down the rocks, so unless you need the space underneath for an aux fuel tank I'd leave the spare under there. AHC High mode and airing down to about 1/2 your normal tire PSI will be your friend.

If you plan to run Golden Spike or some of the other seriously challenging trails, you'll likely scrape more than just the rear bumper.

As much as I love the Dissent, if you can live with the underside corner of your factory bumper getting scraped up, you can do some pretty gnarly stuff (assuming you are lifted). Every mod comes with tradeoffs, and armoring up definitely changes both the aesthetics and usability trading off for better departure angle and durability.

You could look a the couple threads where the stock rear is trimmed up about 1", and a tube slide rail installed on the perimeter. Definitely will be the lightest, and done with appropriate reinforcement might meet your needs.

Like this:

I have the ASFIR TC skid, so I'm brand inclined. What is the attachment at the rear of the bumper? Just four bolts thru the pintle hitch?

I was going to say. The picture in the pdf seem to be of a 200 that has a completely different rear structure that what is on typical US market trucks. But maybe i'm just not looking at it correctly.

Was going to ask the same. Looks really flimsy.

I would assume it uses the existing rear frame tow support to bolt the pintle hitch, but from the drawing it does look very flimsy.
From my experience with ASFIR front bars they are able to serve as a good winch point with no flex in the bar.

They do outfit NGO and Mil vehicles with ASFIR overseas, but not sure they do that becuase its good or because its cheap

This is what the rear sub frame for the hitch mount looks like. I don't see how from that pdf it would attach to this. Unless there is something that mounts into the 2" hitch receiver and allows the bumper to be bolted to that. Or are you supposed to drill and bolt through that frame around the receiver?

Maybe it's as simple as adding this:

yup you are right, they should just rename it to metal bumper cover

Honestly, it's not that expensive, and as long as you go into it with idea that it just gives you a hair more clearance and looks off-roady, I wouldn't knock someone for using one. As long as they don't expect to be able to jack the truck up from the wing of one. But i would guess it's more sturdy the the OEM setup.

Gotta get it to be more popular on Instagram :)
I reached out to them for more details in terms of material and thickness.

It honestly looks like a good template for someone who wants to weld more reinforcements on it.

I am not really a fan of swing outs and and Dissent is nice but way to pricey. I wish the Kaymar rear bars would work with AHC

Easier to paint-match after scraping it up than the factory tupperware, I suppose. I can't tell from the limited photos/drawings but I suspect it actually rests on the rear frame cross-member.
