Rear Axle Seal and Wheel Bearing Replacement Complete (1 Viewer)

Just completed the rear axle bearing/seal replacement on both sides. My used 20 ton hydraulic press was able to do the job. There have been those that have said that you needed more than a 20 ton press, and I just want to say that wasn't my experience.

Was there a lot of noise coming from your old bearings? I test drove an FJ today that had a helluva lot of road noise coming from rear that got worse as speed increased. Person selling said it was the snow tires but I suspect one or both bearings.

Yes. Especially around turns when that tire was on the outside of the turn. But the telltale was the gear oil leaking from that side. Blown axle seal washed all the bearing grease out.
