I searched but the thread i was going to ask on was closed, so i figured i'd ask again. On the left rear of my 2001 lx470 is a oil smell. i brought it to a friend real quick and he said its the rear axle seal? He told me the dif oil was leakng onto the brakes causing the smell. My question is, can I drive on this until monday? What are the chances of my differential leaking out in 3-4 days? Monday is the only day my mechanic will be able to get it into the shop. Also, ball park about how much do people think it will be to replace this? From what i understand there are 2 seals, one much easier to replace than the other. Whats the possibility of having to replace both seals? I am trading the lx470 in the spring for the new gs350 so i don't want to keep throwing money at this. Sorry for the dumb questions, really not that mechanically minded. I know most people on here do the work themselves, but anyone who had to pay to fix this, if you could just put up how much you paid? Thanks in advance.
