I’ve read through multiple threads on this, but cannot find any of the ToyoFan or Toyocom units for sale. What is available nowadays? Do any of the ODBi to ODBii adapters work with ODBii scanners? I’m mainly looking to monitor coolant temperatures in real-time.

ToyoCom has ceased production until he can get some software stuff figured out. He hasn’t opened his store front in months. If you find one or someone has one to share I’d love to check it out.

Gotta follow the Toycom facebook page for updates on that one. I got one a couple months ago based on an announcement there. Sold out in about 30 minutes from when he posted.

I’m no longer on FB. Do they ever post here?

I had a toyocom for my LS400. It worked great except the speed readout was off by a factor of 8, which ruined the mpg calculation. Otherwise it was a really fun and useful device. It helped me figure out that one of the temperature sensors was busted. Once I fixed that it ran way better!

No they don't post on this forum. The Toyocom device covers most ODB1 Toyota models of similar vintage. If you want one I suggest you get back on Facebook and follow the group. As stated previously when new units are released they sell very quickly.

No and even then its just a single dude and his side gig. He is very focused on making sure he isn't selling a defective product and has no idea what made the last batch so bad (Be glad you didn't buy one). Its been a little over 4 months since the last batch. Since its his side gig - he has absolutely no idea when production will drum up again and they will sell out immediately I'm sure. Be wary of buying them second hand - some people score and some people get a dud. I'd kill for just a half decent product from a real company - but hey obd1 toyotas don't get much love.

If you want live data - its probably best to do what others have do and go to a mechanical gauge.

Goodluck.

@Skrugg The Toyobd1 APP has a log and error reporting features built in if you contact JF he would fix it for you.

I have 3 units. 1 old model OBD1READ and 2 Toyocom (batch 1 and last batch )

I used the OBD1READ for more than a year connected all the time in the engine bay. Exposed to the elements and extreme heat in the summer. Keeping the Toyocom for CEL code reading only safe at home.

After more than 1 year I started to get annoying disconnections, it was acceptable no electronic device can survive the harsh conditions of the engine bay.

I started to use the Toyocom and ordered another unit as a backup I received one from the last batch and it did not work at all.

The last update of the Toyobd1 app fixed most of the problem with the last batch.

I found out that the old OBD1READ is working properly if kept at normal temperatures

Now to protect the Toyocom and OBD1READ and keep it far from hot engine I install it inside the rig cabin

The installation in the cabin near the AC will contribute to the device longevity

Installation of OBD1 dongle in cabin without taping into OEM wiring

About the pics in the above thread I got Crap from mud members that my rig is disgustingly dirty (as veteran that drive most of adult life in combat vehicles I can say "frankly my dear I don't give a dam"

In the next video you can see how i found that one of my O2 sensors is dead.

You can adjust the speedometer. There is a correction in the settings. I used it and it worked well

Your corrected speedometer gives you average fuel consumption both real time momentarily and average plus database of all drives with start and end time, date, length and fuel consumption? And the average?

My understanding is that whatever speed you have calculated on the speedometer app is what all those other calculations are based off. I had 35 on my 80, I think using my GPS I had my speedometer at .967

You can also adjust the injector size on the app which depending on your engine not sure the flow rate. This will influence your miles per gallon on the app. It estimates fuel consumption based on flow rate of your injector size and I believe your TPS sensor. Of course I could be wrong on all of this. Best practice is to calculate your miles per gallon with a GPS over a few tanks and then setup this app accordingly to match the numbers

The LS400 is long gone, unfortunately. In the old software you could only adjust +/- 5%. I think he added more adjustment after i complained on facebook!

The toyobd1 App uses GPS speed and/or ECU input speed and there is a place to insert the tire size correction.
