I'm having a windshield installed in my '95 LC. The guys putting it in insist that glue is not required. I need the FSM reference to the procedure, preferrably in PDF but whatever is available, to show him. He'll be back (for the third time, this time with a Toyota gasket that might actually fit- the aftermarket one didn't cover the corners and he tore it trying to install it) in about an hour. If you can help, please post, PM, or email it to me at benell@cox.net. I'm getting a killer deal because my sister owns the residential glass company that this company is affiliated with, or I'd have called elsewhere already.

Thanks in advance,

-Spike

Hopefully someone will post the manual soon. Don't let up, insist that he use urethane on the install between both the gasket and glass and gasket and body . It will leak without the urethane. (but you already knew that)

Gotta fax number?

That is not out of a 96 book, the TIS version anyway, (the page numbers are different) but the information is identical.

By the way, they want the hood removed to put the windshield in......

Thanks very much guys, I beat them over the head with it, they did glue it, although they swore it wouldn't leak without the glue. I told them I didn't care if it wouldn't leak, the dash would vibrate. They looked at me like I was crazy, of course. Thank all that's good for 'Mud.

Installers are great. Yeah my guy swore it wouldn't leak without the urethane too. After he installed it we proved it would with a hose. He never did get it and I wound up doing it myself with the help of some fellow mudders.

I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm assuming they urethaned both sides of the gasket?

Agree with Derek - did they glue BOTH sides (glass side and body side)? If not, you're gonna hear rubbery chattering on bumps and it will leak.

Yes, both sides. With urethane. What a mess, too. I actually had to take the caulk gun from the guy and show him how to do it, he kept breaking off the nozzles. It was (not) fun. But now it's done and I'm pretty satisfied I won't have any problems down the road.
