It's 19 degrees out. Not at home. Turned key to start 2002 LX and it gave and now won't start and won't get out of aux mode. Any shortcuts to get her started would be helpful. Will search for similar issues soon, but wanted to get this out there in case someone can come to my rescue with a fix.

I gave it a quick flick of the wrist and it was if something snapped and now the key moves freely in the key cylinder and won't engage the starter or any other mode.

Just following up. Got towed to my parent's house. Drove 4 hours on Christmas Eve to pick up $250 part only to use a piece of $10 metal out of it.

Have to remove dash coverings surrounding the cylinder lock. Remove security ring around cylinder. Remove cylinder. Fish broken piece of cam out of housing. Loosen white plastic switch attached to end of housing that controls ignition modes. Insert new cam shaft. Make sure you have it oriented right. If not rotate it until you do. Tighten white plastic switch. Reverse the rest of the procedures, but make sure you test the ignition and steering lock before buttoning everything back up.

I treat my ignition gently from now on.
