I know I need to lift the motor 2~3" for DS. Regarding the motor mount; Which bolts do I remove? The center 17mm or the two 14mm on the sides?

#2 DO I need remove the mid/cat section?

#3 If I remove those cats or mid-pipes, I may need to cut the bolts. Will any aftermarket bolts work?

Thank you

No need to remove the cats/midpipes.
I did not lift the engine, you can but it's not a must.

Is my spacial reasoning off? It looks like I will not be able to remove manifold and install new DTH on Driver's Side. Any tricks to this?

This is what I followed when I did mine:

in summary, remove the two 14mm and the center 17mm.

It's a puzzle to be sure but I got away with it, just a lot of manipulating the parts to get them to slip in and out. It has been done both ways by many people. I don't think anyone has really enjoyed the job, engine lifted or not.

Good luck with it.

Thank you. It surely is a puzzle. I was fed up with the DS heat shield and once loose could not see how to slide it out. Sawzall took care of that. Now I have 3 DS nuts left to remove manifold. Only a slow moving 7 hours in. I do like yelling at inanimate objects... makes me feel like Gary Busey

Gary Busey. :)

Mine were installed without lifting the engine, but the steering shaft was disconnected. (It was also put back on one spline off which make your steering wheel look like your alignment is off. If you remove the shaft, make sure you align the wheel correctly.)

Happy to help! Good luck.

Oh yeah, I remember thinking the same thing once I had the DS heat shield floating around in there with no where for it to go. I think I finally got it out or maybe worked around it until the manifold was free... I've blocked out the whole experience.

Gary Bucy? I went full Eddie Murphy on those nuts :-)

Take a look at this thread...some good tips in there.

It is a puzzle indeed. When I did mine, I elected to leave the steering linkage alone and jacked up the DS about 2 instead. The heat shield and header had to come out together on the DS.

To answer your other two questions...neither the midpipes or cats need to be removed.

Good luck. Be patient and you'll get it done.

Thanks all. I finished the DS in 9 hours, a three and a six shift. I actually ran out obscenities to use/mutter/yell. Not one busted/skinned knuckle, but a lot of scratches on forearms and back and general aches and pains (from crawling under about 300 times). Now I just need to bolt up the PS.

Thanks again for help and encouragement
