Bought OEM GX460 (J150) rotors off Amazon as an upgrade for my 470/J120. The price was a few bucks cheaper than overseas KSA or UAE OEM parts houses, and shipping was free. They arrived in the correct OEM boxing, a thick plastic sleeve, and the rotor itself. Has max dia. and max thickness markings but nothing else. No part no. (42431-60201)

Any way you can tell OEM rotors from the other stuff?

I'm not too mad either way; it costs just as much to get a set of premium NAPA rotors. Just curious.

Cheers!

The ripoff copies out there are so good, including the packaging, the only easy way to be sure is to buy them from a reliable OEM seller. Of course you could do metallurgical analysis, which would cost more than the part. Ebay and Amazon have many fakes.

The place where you can tell the difference is the early failure of the fakes, by then it is too late.

Exactly.

I'm just curious if the proliferation of fakes for this particular part is common already.

Anyone hear of GX460 or 5th gen 4runners with fake OEM brake rotors?
