I know there is a "jobs" thread in the Classified section of the parent forum but I'm looking a little closer to home, Mississippi, for a Mechanical Engineer to hire.

I am the Engineering Manager for a custom manufacturer of winches and deck equipment for ships and barges on the MS Gulf Coast. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with about 5 years experience preferably in mechanical design. The position is a full time position. CAD experience is a must, 3D modeling experience preferred. A good working knowledge and understanding of mechanical systems is desired. Self starter and someone who can work with little supervision to complete assigned tasks on time and efficiently. Basic understanding of machining processes, welding, and other aspects of machine shop operations, as well as, knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems a plus. Compensation will be based on experience and performance.

We are a small, privately owned company, with competitive benefits, and a family atmosphere. We supply equipment to many major shipyards in the Gulf Coast region, Nationally, and even Internationally. Many of our customers are in the oil and gas industry as well as bulk cargo transport. We've provided equipment to the US Navy, major oil producers, and even land based flood control structures. Our equipment ranges in size from 2,000 pounds up to 10,000+ pounds in weight, steel wire rope sizes of 2"+ diameter, and anchor chain sizes up to 2-3/4"+ diameter.

If you, or anyone you know, may be interested in this position please send me a PM with your relevant information and contact information, or resume. The job will be in Gulfport.

Hey fellas, we still need an Engineer. We're looking via word of mouth right now. We serve the marine industry but we're truly a machine shop that manufactures equipment. This is a great opportunity for a young engineer.

Just a little taste, here's a picture of a quadruple drum mooring winch with a waterfall configuration. With exception of the Diesel engine and transmission everything else is designed and built from scratch.

We're now in the market for an Electrical Engineer too. Again, 4-5 years experience preferable. In general, the basic tasks would be motor starter and VFD design to operate our electronic powered mechanical equipment. As for the VFDs we buy the actual drives and build out the cabinets and controls in house.

Once again, if you know of anyone looking, have a friend looking, a family member, kid, neighbor's kid whoever shoot me a PM. Our current EE is quitting to go to grad school. This is a great opportunity for someone willing to take the ball and run with it.
