After 4 years and quite a few mods, I have the finally connected the battery. Chasing a few gremlins like the new stereo not working and the drivers side seat not moving forward and back on the tracks. The biggest issue is the sun roof. I removed it to install sound deadening and more insulation above the headliner. Now when I attempt to close it, it will move about an inch and then I get a quite loud "grinding" noise from above the rear view mirror. Any ideas?

Did you take the time to lubricate the cables while you had it out? If it hasn't opened in four years, it's very likely the cables are frozen; they move easily opening when they are pulled, but have to be pushed to close which is a problem if they aren't clean. Silcone lube will free them. The motor is above the rear view mirror. It has plastic gears attached to it, so if the cables are frozen, it doesn't have the power to move them past their blockage.

Malleus,

Thank you again. Lube worked and just adjusted it so it would close. This is probably the last time it will ever be opened, if I could delete it I would. Perhaps, if I ever go through a repaint, I will have the opening closed with a body panel and be done with it totally.

Glad you got it working.
