Re-fitting rear leaf springs,

Hi guys,

I tried refitting my rear leaf springs last night, OK it didn’t take the 5 minutes I hoped.

Can anyone tell me the trick, I tried fitting the front and rear shackles, however its about 4 cms out on the axle, or should I attached the front shackle, then the axle then the rear…. Maybe if I attach the wheel it will help flatten the spring.

Hi All:

Matt, fitting leaf springs can be troublesome!

I'd suggest getting the fixed end of the leaf spring bolted-up, then the shackle end.

You will most likely find the axle not lined-up with the spring plate.

I find that a combination of pushing the axle assembly, jacking up and down with a floor jack, etc. will get the motherf**ker lined-up!
