Need to get opinions on possible solutions. RCV axle is made to fit earlier and later model 80 series. The inner snap ring slot is for earlier models and the out snap ring slot is for later models. Mine is a 1993. The issue is on earlier model like mine it's a bit long and dust cap does not fit. I've seen two solutions. 1st solutions is a trail gear dust cap that is deeper. I have the trail gear cap it is still not deep enough even with the zerk fitting removed. The second solution I know of is cutting the rcv axle at the outer snap ring groove. I'm hesitant because it just seems wrong to take a cutting wheel to a new axle. Thoughts? Solutions I haven't found yet?

That would be an easier solution!
My thoughts exactly....and then you'll have the better/thicker flanges to boot. Go OEM, they are cheap in the big picture and easy to get.

Studs and cap should be the same. I have a late model drive flange on one side and an early one on the other and I haven’t noticed any issue with them.

Any issue with the length of the hub studs with installing the 95-97 drive flange?

Does dust cap still fit or do I need a dust cap from a 95-97?
Yup, studs are the same, it's just the thickness of the center part of the hub with the splines that is different...direct bolt on, but you might as well do new cones/washers/nuts if you don't have them already.

Appreciate it. All parts should be here Wednesday.

So the axle saga continues.....the new thicker drive flange leaves about 1/8" or so gap between drive flange and C clip groove. The idea of the axle being to back and forth im guessing is would cause wear issue's on inner seal ect. When compared to my original it's definitely a significant difference. Thoughts?

Picture is my original drive flange and a drive flange from a 96.
