I have had this hollow,metal rattle on my 98 LX for sometime. Just got tired of looking for it and turned up the radio. It sounded like bolts in coffee can. Last week while waxing the top of my LX I found the front roof rack rail was loose on one side were the center section slides into the end link. The two screws that attach the two together were tight so I loosened the side rail locking screw and pulled back on the rail so there was tension on the rail, tightened back down and went for test drive. No more rattle been looking for this for over a year. Hope this helps someone if they have the same annoying rattle.
