Guys,

I just want a quick, cheap paint job for my 74. Very low budget. I don't own a compressor so am most likely going the spray can route. Was gonna do the roller method, but now I'm not so sure...

Was thinking of going with some type of desert tan color. What would you guys recommend as far as:

1. Rattlecan or roller?
2. What brand if rattlecan?

My main concern with roller is getting the mixture with the mineral spirits correct. Spray can just seems much easier...

Thoughts?

i have painted a few toyota hunting trucks with the spray paint from wally world (just to put a solid color on) and had good results. i painted them green as a base coat then laid palm fronds against it and sprayed brown black and tan to create a kustom kamo. only lasts about a year but $20 worth of material to paint aint bad.

ps buy the spray can handle it makes it much easier

I used an OD green camp spray paint. I'll have to check the manufacturer. By the time you buy enough paint to put several coats on, and if you put a clear over, you have spent almost enough or more money than buying some sort of auto paint. Cheap guns are cheap and I've seen them work pretty well. Could you borrow a compressor?

I rattle canned my Pig. It worked fine but the roof is fading fast and I put about 4 coats on with a matte clear.

Thank you guys for your responses. I have made a deal with my body guy that I will do all the prep work and he will spray it for me for cheap... So no rattle cans for me this time :)
