So I just replaced my 2nd Head-gasket. I noticed the Top of my radiator is Hot Bottom is cold after driving for like 30 min of city driving is that normal ??? Can anybody check for me on their car? Worried cause that might be problem that causing overheating !!!
Sounds to me like you thermostat is either stuck or there is an air bubble in you system. If you had the head just replaced these can be problems. Pull the thermostat out and see if problem persists.
For peace of mind, you can have the rad pressure tested at a rad shop. As part of the test they measure flow. If its clogged they will clean. Rad has to be out though.
I also have a had a bad thermostat. Genuine and new right out of the box - caused a lot of head scratching. I boil mine now in a pot of water before install just to make sure they work.
Air bubbles can be a pain but easy to solve. Let it come up to temperature with the cap off. Start with the cap off cause you don't want to pull the cap when its hot (dangerous!!!!!!!!!). Rock the truck from side to side and up and dow while its running. You may see air bubbles or the level in your rad rise and fall as air works through it.
