I have a 1989 FJ-62 with a small hole in the top of the radiator. I would like to replace the radiator on my own, but I am a little concerned about the time and expertise required. I would rank my mechanical skills as being average, but I have never undertaken such a project before. In general, what are the steps required to remove (do I have to remove the A/C component), what are the pitfalls of this project, should I replace anything else while this radiator is out, etc. Also, what is a good price for one of these units. I have been quoted $189.00 from radiatorbarn.com. Thanks.

There are many excellent threads on this subject. Check the Search feature and you`ll be rewarded. I followed the advice in those threads and it was a simple job.
Watch those thermostat housing bolts and definately cut the fan shroud.
Good luck.

Is it a hole in the radiator is is it leaking from the seam between the top and the radiator core? Mine was rebuilt a few years ago and it leaks from that parting line, i put some bull**** permatex stuff on it but i need to take it to a radiator shop and have them solder it. You might want to look into that (10 bucks for pressure test and solder, 150 for a new one).
