I appreciate everyone's help on my latest question re: radiator removal. The advice was great and the removal was relatively simple. Pull off headlight covers, turn signals, parking lights covers, etc. This made the removal go much faster. Removal of the battery tray was good advice also.

The hardest part of the job was taking off the transmission lines. I actually had to loosen the lines from the hose connecting to the fitting as opposed to just loosening the fitting from the radiator. (maybe that was suppose to be the way to do it) Regardless, I now have the radiator out and the transmission fittings removed from the bottom of the radiator. I am calling these things fittings, but there may be another technical term. Please advise.

Here is the next line of questions, while I await the arrival of the new radiator. In a recent response, I was told that the individual flushed the transmission lines or did something with the lines. What maintenance steps should I take since I have this thing out and how do you do it. Also, the fittings on the bottom of the radiator -- should they be replaced. Any other advice on the install portion would also be greatly appreciated. As always, this site has been extremely helpful and thanks for the advice.

While replacing my radiator, I did a modify version of the rodney flush. Put the truck back together except for the trans lines, leave them disconnected.

Make sure the radiator was IN and full of anti-freeze/water.

Rodney's instrunctions actually state to disconnect the return line at the tranny.

I used compressed air to clear out return(passenger side) and then connected it, then redirected driver side line into bucket. I do not know if it is a no-no to use air to clear out return line. Someone please chime in.

The flush instructions (which i will try and find and post a link) are on yahoo 3fe site and probably here also.
