Just got my 99 LC inspected and the shop tells me i need a new rack and pinion cause the bushings are shot on the driver side. Lots of play, like 1/2" play whitch is bad and its ruinning the ends of my tires. I checked some forums on here and I`m a little confused? Can the bushing be replaced or do I have to change the hole thing. Theres no leaks or anything else wrong with it. The dealer wants over 700 bucks for it. can I get an after market one or should I just stay with factory? And Where can I get one for a desent price? I would appreciate any insight. Thank you.

Just replaced mine on my '99 with 18x,xxx miles. Go with OEM and also replace the tie rod ends and the large clamp gasket while you are at it. It completely transformed my steering...I had not noticed how loose it it had become over the last 10 or so years.

I have 222,xxx on mine and it does rattle some what when I hit bumps. Did you get it from factory? or was there another sourse?
