So I recently got a new ac compressor since mine broke. When it arrived it turned out to be the r12 model where my land cruiser uses R134a. Ive heard mixed reviews, but one said if you simply drain the oil that comes in it and use the correct one for R134a systems then it’s usable. Was wondering if this is true or if I should start the search for another compressor?

That is correct. You'll need an R134a compatible oil to refill it. It's a good idea to measure the amount of oil you remove to replace with the same volume... unless you have a published value from the manufacturer.

I used a PAG100 oil with UV dye already mixed in. Makes leaks easy to find with a blacklight if needed.

Makes sense. So once I change out that oil I can run the r134a safely on the r12 compressor yea?
