Before removing valve cover is it necessary to drain the oil first? I'm picturing oil dumping all over the place when I remove valve cover???
TIA

excellent... kinda thought so but wasn't sure (just thought I'd ask to be safe) and didn't want to get rid of oil just yet.
Thanks a bunch!

I just did a valve cover gasket replacement a few weekends ago. I found that weatherstripping adhesive makes the gasket stay in place really well (just dont plan on a quick task of getting the goo out if you ever change it), and it helps to cup the far end with your hand as you slip it over stuff, it lets you make sure youre not raking the gasket over a bolt. The first one i got from MAF i had to cut cuz the length was fed up, i got one from napa that was really nice, victor rienz, it came with the little seal plugs for the top of the valve cover too. I hit the valve cover with some chevy orange paint, my s*** looks hot now haha.
