I have found narrow 33" diameter all-terrain tires to be a good choice for my daily driving needs. However, my wheels are stock 15" and there are no tires currently available (BFG 33x9.5 and 33x10.5 are listed by BFG, but unavailable until the next production run; currently sold out). The availability of all-terrains and road tires in 16" wheels seems very board in contrast.

It is reported that the 33x10.5 will be available in a month or so with the next production. Before jumping into repurchasing 15" tires (when they are available), would it be smarter to move to 16" wheels now with this tire purchase?

The basis of my question is the 16" 6-lug wheels offered on several years of Tacoma that look like they could be a good option to switch to. I have seen several listed on Craigs list for ~$75/wheel. But I have only seen these wheels on trucks and don't have any direct info on how they would fit/work on my FJ40s or BJ70s. Can anyone share any experience, data and advice on other Toyota wheels for use on a Cruiser?
Thanks

called around a few places and you are right, no stock on 33x1050 right now, said it will be 2-4 weeks. when the time comes to replace my 950's, i think i will just run the 1050's. sometimes you can find a few spares/sets of 950's on craigslist for cheap. good luck.
