Hey guys I have some questions. I have and '89 FJ62 and I love it! It has the 3fe and the 4-speed with overdrive.

First is my transfercase PTO ready and how do I find out?

Second does anybody know what they sold for new back in 89?

And last I heard that the axles under my truck are "beefier" than the one out of like an early 80's yota pickup? Is this true? and what does they compare to? Dana 44'? 60's?

Thanks for the help!
later!

dont think it would be easy with a 3fe to add the PTO....but not sure, I use a Warn 10K

yes the axles are beefier than a mini truck, but the birfiled are the same(I think)

10-12K(but it might have been 18K) if I recall back when new

big help I am this morning :D

The window sticker from my 90 FJ62 reads $22,000 plus.

I can't vouch for compatabilty issues but there is a power take off cover on the original transfer case. It's oval, on the forward section, left side of the case. I think most of us run electric winches if that is why you want to know.

Get a Factory Service Manual, expensive but worth every penny. Specter or Man-a-Fre and other places sell them.

As for how beefy the axles are, the door sticker will give you weight ratings for your front and rear axles. I also have the weight ratings for Full Float axles which are considerably higher.

Welcome to the madness

Tony

PS Raincountry Cruisers meets at Round Table in Mt Vernon the first wednesday of the month 7:30PM if your interested.

Someone posted an actual sticker for one of these a while back, and it was 20K.

that right, $20K, was thinking of the later model 40's, they were 10-12K

I want to add not to ignore this. I've had one for years and have referred to it now and then, not really seeing the value. Until the other day when my 62 wouldn't start. Pulled the FSM out, followed the troubleshooting, found my distributor had failed. Thanks to the FSM I was able to replace it and get back running.

It just paid for itself and more. Don't wait until something happens before getting it. ;)

order your FSM's direct:

Toyota Material Distribution Center -- 1-800-622-2033 Torrance CA

cheaper than ordering from your local dealer.

My wife paid 25k for her's new from the dealer in 88 & when lexus took over the Landcruiser in 1990 they shot up to 35k Cdn.

No leather seats in the US for the FJ62. A Mud member sells a retro leather kit for these seats, however.
