I couldn't find but a few pictures of chopped 60's/62's.

All of the pictures show the original roof from the "A" pillar back to an intact "B" pillar.

Is it absolutely necessary to have the support of the forward roof and "B" pillar?

Would windage collapse the front glass without this section?

Thank You,

I would not think the wind would push the a pillars back. They are pretty tough. I would be more worried about supporting the door glass if you are thinking of cutting the glass surrounds of as well.

I own a 1989 FJ62, love it, and am becoming addicted to these old trucks.

I came across a local 1987 FJ60 that's cheap, is an absolute rust bucket, but runs good.

191,000 miles, 4 speed.

Did I mention rust!!! You can see daylight through the headliner in about a dozen spots!!!

He's hinted that he'll take $700.00 for it.

The only way this truck could be salvaged is to cut the roof off from the windshield back and make a summer vehicle out of it with a roll bar, bikini top and soft 1/2-jeep-type doors.

I'd hate to see this truck parted out or worse.

It's critical that I know that I could cut the roof from just back of the windshield with no ill effects.

Thank You,

I'd be more concerned of a roll over. You won't have any support unless you fit a rollbar and it's tied to the windscreen / A pillar to give the body some structure. I'm tipping that's why they have left the B pillar intact and fitted rollbars in those conversions.
