I have belonged to different clubs in my time and a few of them had a policy that if you recruited 3 new members, you got the next year's membership waived. Could we do something like that? Maybe a new shirt or something?

Thanks,
Dave

How about this... you build the Sequoia into a real offroad machine, and I'll cover your dues for next year.

So are we not a club that is open to suggestions from it's members? I'm suggesting a tool that could strengthen our numbers, I'm not trying to be a dick.

We are open to suggestions from anyone, member or not. You tossed an idea out and so far hasn't gotten much debate.

If you want my opinion, we have no problem filling Quick Trip parking lot at the meets and the trail runs have a good showing, so no need to force or bribe new signup's. I see this type of promotion as more of a gimmick and I prefer new members that enjoy hanging out, wheeling, wrenching, etc. with us and join to support and be part of the club? Not to mention that the dues paid is mostly returned to the member in swag.:D

Nor was I. That was supposed to be more of a motivational jab to get you to commit to building your Sequoia into something that nobody else has tried yet. It was in NO way meant to be inflamatory.

We absolutely are open to suggestions good, bad or indifferent, from our members. If you want my true opinion of your suggestion, I'll give it to ya. As an officer of Copper State Cruisers I feel it is my job to actively recruit not new members to the club, but new people into our hobby. I can't recall ever asking a person to join our club (I may be wrong on that one and I'm sure I'll get called to the table for it), but instead come join us at a few Cruise nights, come out for some trail runs. Then make a decision as to whether or not they want to be a member. A local Jeep owner came out to a cruise night and tried to join. I turned him down because he doesn't own a Toyota, but at the same time I invited him to come out with us on any run he wanted. He has.

My opinion is similar to Kevin's in that it feels gimicky, but hell what do I know. I started a Toyota Club so I could get a cool T-shirt and some stickers.

Back to the Sequoia... BUILD IT, because I can't.

I'm sorry. I had a bad day. Honest, I ran outta gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from outta town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake, a terrible flood, locusts. It wasn't my fault!! I swear to god!!

We haven't gotten a Sequoia yet but she's itchin for one. It's all good.

Dave

I hate locusts. I feel your pain.

A new Sequioa or a 2-year old 100-series? I'd take the 100 any day. And, they're more reliable. Why a Seq? Do you need the added space?
