How many of you have replaced your fuel injectors and did it make a difference?

Jason

HOw easy are they to remove and clean? What do i need to clean them and put them back in? Any seals or gaskets or anything needed?

Here is a good site with more information.I have not used them.I am sure there is a shop in Dallas that will clean them for you at a reasonably price.

I ran some of that fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and it seemed to help. I got a couple more miles to the gallon. Went from 11 to about 13 or 14. Dont know how good this stuff is for the engine but it seemed to work and is still working great.

To remove them you will have to remove the upper intake manifold. It is not that hard but can try people's patience. You will need to remove the dreaded EGR tube. The last time I checked around I think it was anywhere from $12 - $20 per injector for the cleaning. I think a set of OEM ones is $1200 so cleaning them is a good option. I would also replace all the gaskets and seals for the injectors as well.

And when you get them cleaned and balanced (did that on my rig with Andrew's help) they give you a nifty little report on how they were, and where they are now. I had one that was "dripping".

I don't remember where I had it done - check the 3fe archives.

On, and once you have the upper manifold off, replace the dashpot. It is cheap, but you CANT replace (not that I have found) it once it is assembled.

Good luck

Jack
