OK, I wanted to make this decision on my own, but I need some help from some local Diesel experts (Barry/Martin/Greg,etc.). I have the opportunity to buy a 24V 3B diesel BJ42 for $2800. Frame is bent, and a lot of rust, but the MUD member says the engine is strong and no smoke. I plan on swapping it to my almost completely torn down 74 frame. It comes with a lot of parts that I could sell off to recoup some of the cash. It only has a 4 speed transmission, and I'd like to get a 5 speed and Turbo for it. Ultimate plans is a daily driving BioDiesel machine!

Main problem is it's in Canada, now my first one came from Canada so I've done the importing paperwork before. But, being a diesel and a 24V, will this be more of an issue?

So am I crazy? :bang:

Brian, read thru the forum on converting 24V to 12V it is not to difficult, I don't recall issues arising with it being a diesel as long as the vehicle had an option of a diesel engine from the factory (i.e. 4cy, 6cy, diesel, peddle power, etc.)

with you already swapping the drivetrain from one location to another it shouldn't be too challenging and as long as it isn't electronic injection you should have no problems. As far as the turbo goes, that could or could not be an expensive upgrade for that motor, I believe Martin can chime in on that one.
