Quail Hunting

Anybody going Quail Hunting this weekend? Any good secret locations? Thinking bout heading N outta the Salt River recreation area and working towards 4 Peaks area. Or, taking the turn off on the right side past the 4 Peaks exit on the Beeline. There is a mesquite wash there and not crowded like upper and lower Salt River.

Yep I will be out Sunday. I think I might go up towards Roosevelt or sheep's crossing. Though I could end up out by 4 peaks. Should be a good year for the little devils with all the rain we had. My only worry is the snakes but I have a decent pair of snake gators but still its none to comfortable to realize there is a big Mohave 3 feet away from you staring you down

That is a good area IMO. Its been a wet enough season where the quail population looks pretty strong. You have a good bird dog? We used to have a Brittany Spaniel which made quail hunting outstanding.

I am headed out tomorrow morning with a buddy that likes to hunt in S of AZ City. We always have to pack heavy because of the illegals coming across the border but my buddy knows the border patrol guys down there. I hope there are quail there because I "know" where there are quail near the Robbins Butte/Powers Butte area. I seen them while I have been Dove hunting. Good luck tomorrow, sounds like yours is a better place and much cooler!

I'm heading out next Thur/Fri with some buddies from work. Going to go up to Sheeps Crossing by the Verde for the night and hunt on the way up and back. Anyone is more than welcome to join us!

Just got back from the Queen Valley Area. Went to shoot some clay pigeons but got into some quail along the way!

Good strong coveys that stayed put long enough for us to push em around a couple of times.

Lot of people out there though!

Closely inspect those birds before you stuff them in your game bag. I hear most of them have been inplanted with gps tracking devices and have little bags of doobers strapped on their backs...

I was only out a few hours but was able to get 10. All were checked and no GPS trackers were embedded
