I need a few reference point from other people's swaps. For those who don't know, I'm installing a SBC 700r4 combo in the 60. My intention had been to locate it so that the x-fer case would remain in the stock location and let the rest fall where it may... "that ain't gonna work".

I'm trying to figure out what everyone els is doing. 2 questions that you might answer for me...

1. How far back from the radiator does your H2O pump pully sit?
2. What type of cooling fan do you run?

Answers for fan questions

BMAN,

I just swapped in a 1992 350 in place of a 1985 350 and tried to convert to an electric fan in the process but it wasn't keeping up.

I'm now running both just because it doesn't hurt anything, but the 'custom' fan shroud from the PO doesn't fit my 1992 install with the serpentine front accessories setup.

If you're going with a non serpentine assembly and want this fan shroud let me know and I'll ship it out to you free.

Can't get to the cruiser right now to measure but will try to get another update in here this evening on the measurement.

i'm running a black magic electric fan on a summit aluminum radiator. that fan sucks about 3000cfm of air and works great. if your gonna use the engin driven fan, you should do a mock-up for placement of th motor. i fabbed my own cross member ($30), and had my drivelines done ( about $150).

You will want to put the SBC forward far enough that you have plenty of clearance for the dizzy at the firewall. I don't have my 60 here today or I would go take a measurement for you. I was able to put the V8 in a position that kept my stock 60 radiator shroud (as well as 82-SOA-60 and FJKai). I am currently running a non-flex fan off of the pully and an electric pusher on the front of the radiator set to come on at 205 degrees (I had to remove my A/C condensor for it). I was having heating problems that I could not solve with just a traditional fan or an electric one, but when I combined both it works perfectly. FJKai did the swap and is just running a non-flex fan off of the pulley and it cools great for him. I can't figure out my why mine didn't work with just the non-flex fan, it's a new crate motor, new radiator and all new cooling parts. Oh well, it works now at the cost of no A/C. I should have my rig back tomorrow is you need measurements or anything.

Mine site about the same as bridges engine. I dont have the electric fan though so there is quite a bit of clearence...im using the stock tranny if you care about that.

I have a vortec & 4L60E in my FJ 62. The transfercase did move forward . I did it for better distributer and radiator clearances.

I have a ton of room to go backward. My plan was to keep the Tcase in the stock location but this will not allow anough clearance for either type of fan so I think I'll just move the whole gig back about 2 inches and run with it. It should give me about 5" from pump bolts to radiator. and I'll go with an electric puller fan. Worst case scenario is I might have to add a pusher in front at a later date. I "WILL" be running A/C though. Can't haul the kiddies around Phoenix in the summer w/o it... it's not fair to them.

I'll take some pics tonight for you guys to take a look at.
