q about backspacing

Hi guys I am having a hard time figuring out backspacing on wheels. I found a set of wheels I like and the price is right. The owner measured for me with the wheel face on ground. From the back of the face to the back edge of the lip is 5" on a 15x8 aluminum wheel.

So is the backspacing 5" or is it 3" ???

Will these work for my 87 FJ60?/

Sorry if this has been covered I just can't seem to grasp the concept.

5" offset, you need minimum 1 1/2" spacers.

Did you end up getting 1.5" spacer? how did it fit afterwards? I have a 16 x 10 wheel with a 35x14.5 tire and I think I'm in the same boat trying to figure out what setup I'll need.

Sorry I can't be of more help as I ended up passing on the wheels. I did end up with the tires. 33X12.50X15 BFG mud terrains. I am still looking for the correct wheels. I found a set in Florida with 3.5" backspacing which is what is needed for an 15X8 wheel to clear the caliper. But am still pondering the shipping costs.

I believe guys have had luck with Discount Tire ordering 3.5" BS steel wheels. I run the 3.75" BS Unique wheels that Discount usually stocks with 1/4" spacer in the front, none in the rear.
