I removed the access panel on the floor of my PZJ70, above the fuel tank to locate the fuel tank filter, but it only had the fuel float!

Will I have to remove the fuel tank to locate the filter or am I missing something, here?

Yup you have to remove the tank to get the feed/return pipes out. Depending on how old your truck is and how corrosive an area you drive in you might find the pipes dont survive being removed as its pretty common they corrode and fall apart. If there is ANY sign of corrosion on the pipes or flange I would replace that part while you have it apart.

Why are you looking for the filter anyway, do you have fuelling issues?

FYI make sure you get the fuel sender back in the tank the right way round because if the orientation is out the float can catch on one of the ribs in the tank and give false readings.

HI friends
I think you have to remove the tank to get the return pipe out. If there is any sign of corrosion on the pipes you shoul replce that part.

i did it on a lj70 2l the fuel tank off and cleaned the filter(had to take it off couse fuel line broke)

there was alot of black shi** sticking in that filter ! so was good i cleaned it !

Its not to hard taking the fuel tank off only thing a garage jack is handy when you put it back:wrench:

I had to remove the fuel tank to get at the cylindrical plastic filter.

In my case the filter was clean.
