Awesome sounds Lane. Your son is really talented. I've been "learning" the guitar for a good 15 years now and appreciate the skill your son has. Please pass along from one Ian to another.

We think he's doing pretty good. It's been just over 2 years since he started, hasn't
ever had a lesson, this is all self taught. He does spend a lot of time practicing.
He also plays the Barritone horn, trumpet and trombone. He wants to major in music
when its time for college.

Good stuff. I can hear the Pat Metheny, Satriani, and Vai influences on a number of tracks. No lessons, two years, and he's playing like that?! Impressive. Keep going Ian...and remember us little people when you're on tour.:D

Wow Lane! I'm a high school teacher, seen and heard lots of music from kids over the last 12 years, first time remembering having to pick my jaw up after listening.... he got a cd yet? I'd buy it!

He's a huge Vai and Satriani fan, spends hours on Youtube watching their technique.
He has found his passion at a young age!

Not bad sounding stuff! Just make sure he never becomes a drummer if he wants to be taken seriously as a musician ;) I personally recommend him to listen to some Mahavishnu Orchestra... some John Mclaughlin always makes my head spin.
