Hi,
I have a 2L LJ-70RV-KR.
And I am having massive problems with the car veering to one side (usually left, but also sometimes right) under even slight braking.
This is an issue we have lived with for a long, long time. Which was due in part to near daily river crossings, and they would eventually dry out. (And frequent cleaning/servicing of the rear drums, of course.) We haven't done any crossings in the last 6-odd months.
About two months ago I started noticing something; coming down from an altitude of 1300m through to about 450m the brakes were perfect, but as soon as I reached a plateau of around 300m, the brakes started pulling erratically almost always to the left but something to the right too - I assumed the brakes overheated from driving. And actually got worse, the lower I got (maybe I am imagining this, I am not even sure at the moment).
Going back past the 3-400m altitude, the brakes started getting better and better, I assumed we were lucky. And I didn't have a single complaint for the next month of driving around the 1300m range again.
Mechanic said overheating/dirty/blah blah blah. I should upgrade to disc-brakes and I'll be much better off (and so would his pocket).
Now last night, I again came down from the hills and the brakes started pulling as soon as I crossed the very same point as last time.
I really don't think that this is a coincidence.
What could be the problem here?
Any ideas and advice are very welcome.
