Puff the Magic FZJ80

I have just noticed that when I start up my 1996 FZJ80 when it has been sitting for 8 hours or more there is an initial puff of white smoke. This does not happen if it is stared up after sitting for a shorter period of time.

Oil level has been steady (though I do notice some oil dripping where the engine meets the transmission). Valve adjusted needed, or something more sinister?

It is either coolant or oil leaking into one or more cylinders. If its oil, its leaky valve guides which can only be cured by replacing the guides. If its coolant, then it is a leaking headgasket. Is the smoke really white, or is it more like blue? White = coolant, blue = oil.

Restricted air filter
Faulty SFI systems:
Faulty pressure regulator
Defective ECT sensor
Faulty ECM
Faulty injectors
Faulty throttle position sensor
Faulty MAF meter

Usually water condensation will simply spit out on the first few seconds of operation; its pretty hard to get so hot so fast to allow the condensation to steam off right away like this. I think it is either oil dripping past the valves and valve guides after sitting awhile (bluish smoky-smelling smoke on startup) or it is coolant leaking past the headgasket after sitting awhile (whitish sickly sweet smelling steam on startup). Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info. I will have to get out and take a whiff of the smoke. I usually do not notice it because I leave for work so early it is still dark. I am hoping it is just condensation, and not a leaking HG. Not sure I am ready for another in depth relationship with my 80 after just rebuilding the front knuckles.
