So after waiting close to 2 months for marlin to modify and get my pitmit arm back to me I finally was able to put my cruiser back together. I measured the wheel base today and it is 101.5" by my measurement. The rear axle is on the forward-most set of holes in the perch and I’m debating whether to center the center-pin on the perch. My old front drive shaft is just about long enough to run in the back as it is; only about an inch of splines are engaged. So if I decide to get it retubed I don't know if I should just push it back another 1.5" or just leave it. Opinions? One the high way and the street I get no vibes and it drives great! My toe is a little off I think so I'll have to take a little bit of material off my tie rod since marlin had not corrected the lengths for the fj60 axles yet. I'm sitting at about no toe right now with the tie rod cranked all the way in, no biggy though.

My brakes were a little scary to begin with but they more I drive it the better proportioned they are feeling, I think I’ll get a proportioning valve anyway, anyone know what one I need, saw that summit racing had them, which size do I need with 3/16 tubing so I don’t' order the wrong one? I need to bleed the brakes a little more as they are a little spongy but I don't have to pump them and it stops better than it did before.

The front isn't flexing as well as I had hoped but I think it will brake in. The rear is limited in both directions by my shocks, so I need to figure out how I can get some longer ones under there, I may ad some bump stops cause the springs are getting pretty torqed at full stuff.

The step i'm parked on is 40" high

I still need to make a drive shaft and a wrap bar and I can go wheeling, I’m hoping to get it done this weekend, we'll see what school holds for me this week.

Oh and there was this little in line brake thingy on my passenger side frame rail just in front of the firewall. I left it in the circuit, I think it maybe a residual valve but I’m not sure. Anyone know what it is I tried to take a pic but it is just too dark outside to get it to come out and I don’t' own a flashlight :flipoff2: If it is a residual valve that means I think I have two the rear brakes don't seem to drag so I’m not sure, maybe it is the stock proportioning valve? Once again 12/69 model.

i'm way pumped, hopfully I can get a cage together quick like, among other things

If you get the tube you can use my bender and welder, im in Boulder.

Thank you Ian, hopefully soon I can round up some tube then i'll give you a ring.

I finally got around to building a wrap bar. I was almost finished with it when I read today's post about a guy who broke his y-type wrap bar, which is what mine was going to be, notice the adjustment possibility. After short thought about the design I decided to take woody’s advice and just built it as a v-type wrap bar. I was going to make it all out of tube but didn't have enough so I found some square lying around. I think it should work pretty well and I can feel it on the street already. I know you shouldn't use the stock x-member but it was too easy, I'm just banking on the fact that I’m running a worn out F.

oh yeah beware the knarly weld that mates the two arms, overhead with a gap is a B$T%H!!!! my sholders are still burning

I used the stock crossmember and never had an issue.....

try that same brick pile in reverse...with the weight on the rear springs, I'd expect most of your flex to be there....betcha the rear doesn't flex much and the front maxes out when you do it in reverse...VERY common on RTI-testing, only the "real" trails will max your travel

just add sawzall for some fender evening, and yer set!

Umm, I hate to break it to ya... But your adjustment possibility is no more now that you've welded that cross-brace between the 2 arms... Sorry man!

hahah, no I realize this, and did before I welded it, originally it was going to be a y style so that I could adjust it, instead of cutting the threads off I said screw it and just welded it up, stuck with my WB but that is ok, I like it a lot.

Woodie, yeah it flexes hard on the trails. My limit is shocks at the moment, as soon as I get longer ones up front it will be silly.

Here is a shot without a front shock again going forward instead of reverse.
