Well, tomorrow is the big day for moving to RI. As soon as I'm settled in and get the shop set up, I'm going to start on Project FJ25RE buggy.

Here's the specs:
FJ25 frame, narrowed
FJ25 cowl, narrowed
FJ25 door openings
Custom floor and rear tub dovetailed
Round wheelwells
FJ40 front end with mock FJ25 bib, narrowed
Full compliment of tube work

Drivetrain:
22RE
R151F
4.7 23 spline single t case

Axles:
Mini truck front with 30 spline longs and HP e-locker, 4.11
early mini truck rear with RDB's, and e-locker, 4.11

Suspension:
SOA leafs front and rear. May shoot for 102-105 wheelbase.

Tires: shooting for 36-38" range. Would love to go to 37" Krawlers again.

Well, thats it on paper.... I have almost all of the parts except the front e-locker, springs, tires, and longs...

I'm not planning on it being street legal, but will shoot for it. When I can insert little FJ25 cues, I will.

good luck on the move and build
:popcorn::popcorn:
22re/5speed in a 25 seems so right...

It sounds like a nice build

a few years ago Mark and I took alot of time laying out a mod class rig using a cruiser body and frame that never happed but the ideas are still in my head...

Cruiser frames are heavy, if you are going to throw a bunch of tube at this thing then loose as much of the frame as practicle then cut off alittle more:flipoff2:

How much are you going to narrow everything?
my buggy is about 53" outside at the seats and 48" at the A pilar but with 22re you could skinney it down a little more at the A.

I would also plan on sectioning the cowl maybe 4" ?
this will allow you to move the seats and cage down and keep the proportions similar.

I have the narrow rear in my runner like you did on your old comp truck and I think it is a great choice.

Now get to work,

Matt

We're partially moved. The family's bare necessities are in RI now, so we have a place to sleep. I still need to get the rest of the shop moved though. That will be a week or so off. Once the dust settles, I'll start on it. The frame needs some work.

Im hoping that the lighter 22RE/R151F/aluminum t case will make up for the Cruiser's heavier frame. I dont think the frame is really that much heavier than a minitruck frame. I am planning on narrowing the cowl. I havent given the whole narrowing thing much thought yet but once I sit down with the pieces and a tape measure, I'll let ya know what I come up with. Planning on doing the Waller rear inner fenders too.
