Looking to buy a printle receiver and need some input on the two types, with 2" ball or hook. Is there and advantage to one or the other or is it personal preference? I will be towing a M101A with the orignal eyelet on it. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Thanks, fat fingers and lack of real typing prowess leads to numerous small errors in the fine english language we deal with. I will attempt to proof read better in the future. Always up for a bit of constructive advice.

So, no knowledge of pintle receivers or willing to offer advice on which receiver style to use?

Nope. I have never seen a lunette over a ball though. I suppose there's a good reason for that.

I have a ball type pintle as well. I didn't choose it, that's what was given to me. Have yet to use it towing my camp trailer as the slider is too short. I think that these are a good compromise if you're only going to have or carry one slider, but if I had been given the choice I'd have gone with the hook style instead. AFAIC the whole reason for having a socket receiver trailer hitch is so that I can use different types of sliders.

We use ball style at work for lighter trailers behind 1 tons and they work fine but to be honest we don't have anything put pintle setups so we don't use the ball. I believe the reason most people don't is because it will wear down your ball over time and it won't really work as a ball after that. If your only using it occasionally and not towing equipment or anything over 5 tons I don't think it would be an issue for you.
