Greetings,

Long time lurker and now new member. I am looking at getting a new 200 series (with upgrade package), and wouldn't you know it, there are about 8 of them within a 250 mile radius. I have called all of the dealers, they are all new (i.e. not dealer demos). They will quote me about 59-60k for one. This seems a bit high given the 4k dealer money from toyota, and the fact that they are shortly going to be 2 year old new cars. I looked through the old posts, but am curious what prices people have paid lately for one of these- Upgrade package and <100 miles. I was thinking about 57k, maybe this is too low??? I offered this to the local dealer (who has 2 of them) and they said "no way", interesting since they have have been sitting on these 2 rigs for about 18 months. Perhaps they are waiting for the right buyer to come along and give them 60k??? Thoughts?

2 year old is still 2 year old.Bad economy on top of that. You have your price now shop and find your deal. The worst that can happen is they say no. These are not rare cars. 2 cents Mike

Sticky note - 57k cash out the door with all fees. Take it to each dealer with your name and number. I believe they will call you. 2 years old. I would think the price would be lower than even 57k. New or not.

Hand them the note and walk out the door, be specific on the one you want.

I like this idea. If the dealerships realize they have competition, they might just take it. Esp knowing that they are going to need to move the '08's anyways.

Many uninformed buyers will opt for the '09, even though they are identical (minus the privacy glass -- I actually prefer my darker tint job better). They need to move this asap....

When the first 200's LC came out, the dealerships that I visited said "no way" deal also. With no rush to deal, after 6 months I selected the color I wanted and paid 8K less. Your timing is right on mark to get a good deal. If the price and color come close to what you want to pay and like, go for it. When the 1st year 200's came out, some complains were clunking driveshaft from start to go situation, and soft brake. Not sure if 2009 or even 2010 years were/will be corrected. Enjoy your ride.

Here in the UK the 200 costs UKPounds£58,000 which is nearly double the US price. I tried to buy one when they first came out and there was no discount and the dealer crapped on arranging a test drive [either that or the Toyota owned demo had broken down] so my mate ended up with a Mercedes GL Class and I got an Audi Q7. Big mistake on the dealers part on behalf of Toyota because they have only sold a handful of 200's since and I have never seen one on the road. The 100 is fairly common on UK roads.

Having said that yesterday, today I had my very first sighting of a 200 on the road. It was not far from my home either. It was sort of russett or burgundey red in colour. The front lights struck me as being a backward styling step and the best I would say about them is that they are 'different'.

Can you explain this a little more?

The Land Cruiser 200 is the only Toyota I know of right now in the US that uses rectangular foglamps. All others use oval.

Remember that I have only seen pictures of it and quickly passed one going in the opposite direction on the road.
Having said that, it looked just as goggle-eyed on the road as in the pictures. Very oriental. It might grow on me in time. Just like a hairy wart. :grinpimp:

While owning a 100 series, it seems to me and to many others that it is a car that is out of time. Almost a dinosaur. :crybaby:
People are downsizing. Since this is the biggest luxury 4x4 on UK roads [barring the Hummer which is a film-star oddity] then its obvious that not many people are downsizing to a 200 series.

I want one.

I recall paying around 64K in Jan 2008 and that included the 7K audio etc... upgrade package so I agree that 59-60K in this market is a bit high.
