All,

I'm stalking another LC, this one possible a soft top 44. Two quick questions from the collective Mud mind, both regarding general sense of cost to:

1) Upgrade to power steering
2) Professionally have a rig painted

Location to have the work done would be Long Island, NY, which would meant that the work would be on the higher side of the range (where rent/labor is higher than other spots in the U.S.)

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
Evan

A paint job in the time of insurance work demanding most shops' entire time = $7-10k if you can find a shop wiling to do it. More if it needs a lot of bodywork and prep.

Power steering depends on what flavor. Simple saganaw to have done by a shop? $800-1200 all in would be a WAG, maybe more if you use a new gearbox, new pump and if a shop insists on a new column because they're not willing to take on the liability of cutting and modifying a stock column. I could see $1600 pretty easy.

Both are very rough estimates based on my having done the work, not having paid for it. I have about $4k in paint materials on my 45swb and that's with a mid grade single stage urethane.

Good Information

Thanks for the thoughts Gumby, much appreciated!

Best,
Evan
