Thanks Kurt and gang!!! @cruiseroutfit

It was some time I haven’t done plugs cap rotor wires 15’ I did it last I am usually better at my yearly tuneup but think last year slipped by unnoticed :meh:

Had a big issue with my shackles ... they only had maybe 200,000 miles on them :meh:

Had a bit of time to replace the fronts only ... they were really REALLY bad

Will need to get the back done at some point... should be a better time taking them out as they are already greaseable ... the fronts were rusted and needed to burn out one of them

Shackles I got from:
4x4 Off-Road Fabrication Parts - Barnes 4WD

And greaseable bolts from:
DIY 4x

Super quick order and shipping from both... I highly recommend them both

Pics of the oldies ... interesting oblong hole option... I could only find round hole shackles to replace them with :)

Have not been able to get the rear shackles yet... but... upgraded a tad the wipers

Was driving (upper northeast) in snowstorm at about 65 middle lane when dually wheeled gmc passed on the fast lane ...

The slush that spayed (aLOT) on the windshield was too much and my drivers wiper blade broke off ... made for a quick pull to the side of the road where I found the blade (in a pile of slush) ontop of the cowl ... thank God

Well put it back together and the arm was also striped out and hardly moving ... I made the arm live for as long as possible... but... it was time for new

Found a great replacement to the oem ones and were grayish as well... newer style j hook but in the smaller 9x3 size

I will do a write up about what I used and where I got them at some point ... they are from a 70’s era beetle

Hey Johnny, I'm sure you could buy 2" longer blades for those arms and get a more-complete sweep.

What size bushings and bolts did you use for the shackle job? Looks like a nice setup.

I used 9/16” ... the shackles were drilled to 1/2” so I needed to drill them out just a tad

The bushings are skyjackers as I have skyjacker suspension

Peter I did see the silver Porsche ones ... same size I think as well ... but two arms ... two blades and rubber grommets... all for about $32 Usd couldn’t Find a better deal :)

Porsche stuff in USA is pricy ... however alil bit beefier than the blades it looks

And I’m all about making things cheap :meh:

Not so pricy, Johnny :)
( I think I have some 2CV rubber stored ... have to search)
bit different to put the rubber in in vintage J4`s
Cheers Peter

Was finally able to get to those back shackles... good thing I did... I don’t think they were going to last much longer lol

Too dark to get the ‘on the truck’ shot... but... here are the 200k conferr shackles not as bad as the fronts ... the bolts however :meh:

Wow impressive wear! Now you’re good for another 200K+ !!!

Btw - I used these for my replacement wipers:

TRICO Classic™ Wiper Blades | TRICO® Windshield Wipers

Man, those shackles saw their better day 200,000 miles ago-- yep, good idea to replace!!!

Welcome back.

Been away too long... but... life and family health issues makes Johnny’s fun time small ... hope to step into mud here and there

All is well

:)
