Thought I’d put these here as well for future self to remember what the F I did and when I did it lol

Welded up windshield from random holes from PO of new to me windshield frame, used the nail in da hole trick… coated inside windshield frame … got rid of delaminated split rim and replaced with 94’ split ring rim

Had the top off … in process of replacing all the windows and fixing the wear areas

Windows have cracks and are too far gone to do anymore polishing

Using the singer slant needle as well as the Morse

If I want to play in this world what kind of machine am I looking for? I see them on MP but am unfamiliar with the terms. Mom taught me to sew and I have built a few simple things with light canvas and my old black Singer. I need to repair a seam on my Kayline Fasttrack and eventually replace windows, I also would like to redo my boat interior (I built interior structure and had someone else cover it 20 years ago and thought... I could do at least THAT good! Rabbits got in there and destroyed it a few years ago..

Anything really machine with a walking foot would work that is an older style sewing machine

One day I’ll most likely splurge and get a juki or the like

The longer the arm and deeper the throat the better

I have a singer 401A as well as a Morse 4400 they have an equal sized throat… it is difficult at times to fit the material through the throat in order to get the stitch to sit right… that’s why the bigger the throat the better… you can maneuver your material bunched up better in a long arm deep throat machine

Other than that the really thick stuff u have to help along with the hand wheel but usually if you get a few stitches going then the machine gets going well to stitch

@rlong forgot to mention definitely get the Tenara thread… it comes in a few colors but will not deteriorate over time … my first mistake was to use a matching color thread but being outside 24/7 killed it and eventually had to go back and redue most everything
