brakes on the Tundra. Not down to the squeakers yet but failed inspection. I have PowerStop set on order. I put a cheap set of pads on to get me throw Inspection.
Rotors look good. Unless they're warped just do pads. NAPA GOLD pads are solid.

Snagged some cheaper tires on tundra rims, but given the deteriorated status of the tires that came on the truck I’ll take em for $150

I ordered the Powerstop kit. The rotors were good so I put on some cheap pads from carquest to get throw inspection. The amount I drive it they will probably last a year.

they are low but pass SI, I am an inspector!
I think they wanted the $800 for the brake job. That’s just to much for me to spend when I can do it myself for $400

@PRADO3 did you get factory sensors for the tires or aftermarket? I went cheap with some off Amazon that had good ratings.. one of them died only months after install... so now I'm living with check tire pressure system message on my dash until I get around to fixing it
Aaaand... new TPMS sensor/s died. I got one day out of it. M$&@$F)&$&!!

I think we could stay a pretty good thread devotedly solely to stupid crap that is required on vehicles now. TPMS would be pretty high up on the list.

GM has a recall for some models to repair the “small explosive device in each seatbelt used to pretension the seatbelts in the event of a crash”. Seems they have the potential to start vehicle fires. Although...I can honestly say I don’t have a clue if that is a USA-mandated method of deployment or just something that somebody thought up to increase profits or simply to jack up prices because they’re a jerk.

I REALLY hate the knee jerk reaction to distracted drivers that created Pedestrian Awareness Sensors. Meanwhile they continue to fill modern vehicles with more increasingly complicated infotainment arrays than should ever be required to simply drive a car. It’s enough to make me wish I hadn’t gotten rid of my 1997 Hyundai Accent five years ago; I saw it as the 90’s equivalent of what the 60’s VW’s that filled my 80’s high school parking lot were.

I think I’ll be fine to stop acquiring vehicles that followed the FZJ, if only out of spite. Damn, now I need a drink. Sorry for the rant.

Modern cars have a "pretensioner" in the seat belt buckle on the front seats. It deploys and sinches the seat belt in place in a crash so you do not go forward into the airbag. Most cases it pulls in about 2-3 inches. We see them from time to time going bad. All makes and models, more BMW's and Honda's. It is also something that has to be replaced if a car is in an accident.

With all the new features on newer vehicles it really makes me like my 2001 and 2004 GMC's as well as all my old Toyotas!

Toyota has the same recall on pretensioners.

I've activated the pretensioners in my 200 a couple of times with panic stops and it is not an explosive device, it is some sort of actuator which then relaxes after a few seconds.
I agree, there is some sort of explosive device to do with this system, time to investigate.....

they are just u bolt holders keeps them straight and parallel. I’ve seen them on other axles i thought they came on the newer 40’s

What do you guys do for axle breather tubes? Do you just clamp on to that nipple?

But first... snap off two wheels studs 🤦🏼‍♂️

Now I know what my next project is. The lugs seemed fine when I threaded them on by hand a couple months ago for a tire rotation.

...and the final product.

Last summer, we took a road trip to the beach with friends and the truck sagged hitting the rubber helper springs on medium-ish bumps on the highway. It wasn’t horrible but not great— the one downside of a non-AHC truck. Faced with the need to tow the FJ62 earlier this year to @OTRAMM I wasn’t confident in the 100 doing based on that road trip experience.

It probably would have been fine but I wimped
out and rented a uhaul truck in addition to a trailer. I’ve towed that much weight before but never when it was close to or slightly over the limits of the tow vehicle.

So this is my solution because I didn’t want to loose the buttery ride by adding heavier duty springs as the truck is empty most of the time. I love that I can dial up the stiffness in 5 minutes with a bike pump. Elegant and ghetto at the same time 😂

I know I’ll sacrifice some flex but this is how the truck is usually used.

Didn’t get to test it yet because of the wheel stud issue...womp womp.

I have installed several of those air bag kits. I like to put a "t" in the air lines and have one fill. This way they both have the same air pressure in them. If something fails, they both fail and the truck sits level. It will allow the vehicle to flex a little as air moves between the two bags. Both my GMC's are set up this way with no problems. Been like this for 10 years. Firestone makes good kits.

Thanks @matzell, that’s a great idea and will be easy to do

Nicely done!

yes. I used 5/16 hose and hose clamp. ran it up my track bar up to the fire wall. I eventually put a wire style clamp on it. But I never had a problem with the hose clamp.
