Howdy

I am looking to do tomorrow a flush to my radiator because all the bottom of radiator is cold and only the top is hot ( just approximate 2/3 inch from radiator !!) and I will use Prestone® Heavy Duty Antifreeze/Coolant to replace the old coolant, and I am wonder if anybody used or know any benefits in using this type of coolant ?!

Thanks

Wait, isn't it how the radiator is designed to work?

As for the coolant, a lot of us here (myself included) uses Toyota Red and have very good results. You can find some good discussion between Red and Green coolant in the FAQ (https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/45372-green-coolant-vs-red-coolant.html). In fact, it is probably one of the most discussed subjects here... Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with the Toyota Red, but it is expensive. On the other hand, I have read people pretty happy with the green too. So, to me the best coolant is the one that get changed when it needs to be. The other lesson I learned is to flush thoroughly before switching to different brand coolant. Cross contamination can only mean trouble.

Ops! Is OK to be like that the radiator cold in the botom and just hot in the top  ?
:censor: online search send me in wrong direction?
I had some stop leak treatment in the radiator 1 month ago and I was thinking that blocked my radiator :hhmm:!
The true is that I don't remember how need to be or was at my other cars at all .

I used Prestone extend life by mistake and now I will like to still use Prestone because is cheap and is in almost any stores. I found online that they have Heavy Duty coolant and that word Heavy Duty sound to cool to miss. I don't know if will be cool for my old cruiser radiator to!

And about how the radiator how is designated to work I am in clouds at this hour! I need to call my doctor again :D!

I don't know much about the specific brand, and am too lazy to research on it. That's why I stick with the Toyota Red.

The radiator's function is to bring water temperature down. Hot water entering it from the inlet (top), being cooled down, and exiting from the outlet (bottom). I'd imagine that you'd see lower temperature at the bottom than the top.

[Edit] I suppose it is possible for the bottom of the radiator cold due to the blockage, but you ought to see the over-heating by now, no?

Toyota Red is good and that is my project to do list for preparing my cruiser for the summer, to do a professional check to the radiator and replace all the hoses and thermostat with OEM parts and add Toyota Coolant. For now is just to get out of winter.
I don't have any overheating, knock in the wood and is just my obsession to have a perfect cruiser. This forum are so contagious with all the good advice and I am dreaming to have my cruiser like in my first day when left the assembling line :hillbilly::grinpimp: !
