I am looking for a good shop to overhaul/rebuild my 12 HT. The truck runs fine, but sounds a bit different than it did when I bought it.
I am admittedly not mechanical, so I'm looking for someone reputable that will do a good job, ideally, someone who's time and effort on the truck would be respected/valued if I were to sell it some day.

I am in Texas, but will haul the truck to the right person.

thank you

Whats actually wrong with it?

I don't know that anything is wrong with it. I know that it has a knock in it that it didn't have 30K miles ago. Last winter, it was very cold (single digits) and I had a really hard time starting it. I finally got it started after putting a heater on it. I believe that was when the knock started. As I mentioned, I am mechanically challenged and plan on keeping this truck for a long time, so I want to have someone that knows what they're doing give it a thorough once over. I want to avoid tearing something up by driving it, if I shouldn't be. I apologize for the vagueness of this, but it is the best I can do.

12HT's are tough engines, many of them do 6-700000 klms. I would get it compression tested first. It may be possible to just repair the knocking. If you do end up needing an engine kit (contains pistons, bearings, rings, gaskets, seals, o rings) , have look here. They are the cheapest and best engine kits.

Freight is about $2-300 I believe from DHL

I appreciate the reply and information. I will look into having the compression tested and see if that can take care of the knocking.

That wont fix it. The compression test is to give you an idea on the engines compression or lack of it. It wont fix the knocking, its most likely a separate issue.
What the oil pressure gauge on the dash reading?
