Hello all.

Pre heating duration has dropped to near zero on my 12v 2H HJ47 so time has come to go to semi manual control.

Not ready to move to a fully manual Wilson switch yet, I understand it is very simple to by-pass only the timer part of the "computer" which is controling glow plug function.

As I read it here, all I have to do is manually energize pin# 1 on the pre-heating timer using a momentary switch.

My question is: which pin is pin# 1 ?

Anyone here know what color is the wire that comes out of pin# 1 on the pre-heating timer??

Again, my rig is a 1983 HJ47 w/ 12V 2H from Australia.

All help is appreciated!

Not to hijack this but do I leave the plug to pre-heater timer unplugged to go manual switch?
 
Pre heating duration depends on the temperature sensed by the pre-heat temperature sensor located in the engine thermostat housing. Simply unplug the sensor at the Tstat housing and the pre-heat should come-on for the maximum 14 sec every time the key goes to start. That's how to test the pre-heat.

I wonder if pin layout is the same:

1- From year to year (I supppse so)
2- No matter if vehicle was equipped with Superglow or not (mine is...)

Not sure what changes there are between years and models. If you take the plunge, let us know how it works out. I may have to do the same thing at some point- my timer seems to be getting erratic in it's old age...

According to my EWD pin #1 should have a Y-W (yellow wire with white stripe) connected to it, which goes to the temperature sensor mentioned above by @John Galt.

This is for "Land Cruiser FJ, BJ, HJ 40 Series" trucks, so should apply to your vehicle.
