I have an 89' 62. The driver door window will not go down...only up.

So I took out the window/regulator/motor; readjusted so the window was down; re-installed and it went up fine. When I push the down button it just clicks. I thought it maybe the motor so I bought another one. It does the exact same thing. Rolls up but not down. There is a little green box in the door where the clicking is coming from but I can't find one to replace it. Is this where the problem lies? Any suggestions?

ranger i can't help you but mines doing the same thing, ive restored the switches also, ive got clicking in the box even power to the motor,im in the process of gathering the bits for a manual conversion,i don't need these electrical gremlins when im out in the bush somewhere,im off to the local wreckers this morning to grab a few bits for the conversion,i know he's got a 60 there with electric windows,if ya want the module or box let me know,i can post it over,im not sure if he's open this week though.

Thanks for the help. My wife wants me to convert to nonpower windows also. How much would that module be? I can't find them anywhere. What a pain.

The green box is the power window relay for the drivers door. If your switch is good, and you have replaced the motor, then the green box is the problem. I haven't yet cracked one of those open, but it contains the latch for the auto down, as well as the relays for the up and down. I'm sure that if you open it up, you should be able to fab in a relay to replace the down relay. Relays (non-Toyota) are only about $5. You may not have auto down when you are done, but I would rather fix the relay box than replace the entire window mechanism.

That said, if you (or anyone else reading this) are replacing all the power window parts in your rig, I would love to take possession of your old parts. I have just cleaned and polished all the contacts on my fj62 and am in the process of adding relays to each door so that the switches only pass current to activate the relay instead of the current necessary for the window motors and the door lock solenoids. That way, the switches will last forever once they are polished. I'll post pictures and wiring diagrams when I am done. The switches, motors and door lock solenoids cost a fortune from Toyota.

As i thought ranger he is closed,he should reopen next week.

Im not sure about your windows as you don,t have the small vent window but there is aftermarket new regulators we can buy over here for the 60's,so ive bought two new front regulators for about $100 aus then the back windows im gonna get two manual regs off my wrecker, ive found out that i need to replace the glass also as the power and manuals are different where the sliding wheel attaches to the bottom of the glass, but the glass also won't cost to much.

If you sell all your working parts off your electric windows i think you'll find it will come close to covering the conversion cost,i'll put mine on ebay.

I'll send you a message when he opens just in case you still need one,he doesn't charge alot usually.
