I live in the desert. Sometimes when the sun is directly hitting a door or the back door, the door locks will not unlock the door. Now also sometimes the windows, mainly the drivers window, will not go down or up at first, then a minute later it will work. Would this be the driver side door switch cluster going out or the motors? Thanks, other than that my '98 has 214,000 miles and going strong!

Try lubing the tracks with lots of silicone spray. That worked for me. Clean is not bad; just clean the windows after a few days of up and down operation. Worked great!

Search door lock actuator. Tons if info. Your motors are dying. Happens on a lot of trucks.

Your window problems sound just like what I had. Turns out there were two problems:
- the window channels needed cleaning and silicone lube. This made a big difference to the load on the motors, and completely fixed the 'motor stalls when the window is half way up' problem. The motor was getting hot enough to trip the thermal cutout.
- The switch module driver's window switch was damaged. Turns out this is a fairly easy fix if you don't want to buy a nice spendy new one. Take a look at Drivers window switch module repair
That fix made the drivers window switch work - every time - again.

Thanks All, I will try this fix. When I lube the window track with the silicone spray, do I need to remove the door panel, or can I spray it on the window? Just wondering. Thanks for the imput.

On a 96 LX450, I simply rolled the windows down and removed the rubber window channel seal thingy. I soaked it in a sink of HOT water with degreaser and soap, then scrubbed the channel with a brush. That got all the caked-on crud out first. Then, I put some Syl-glide (silicon gel in a tube for window tracks) on the rubber and re-installed. No more window stalling and the glass went up MUCH faster.
