I need to replace my power steering lines asap. I've read the threads on the main board, and I was wondering if anyone locally has tips on sourcing the lines; or if OEM is the only way to go. Also any tips on the job would be appreciated.

If any of the local parts stores can't make or get, Cross Company in Raleigh makes custom stuff. You may be able to take your existing hoses in and have new ones fabricated:meh:

Alex went with Napa's custom hose and it only lasted a few months, however others have had good success with it. I ordered OEM but its $$$ and sitting on the workbench still.

There is a custom hydraulic hose maker up off yonkers ill try and dig up the name of. Ive used them to fab up some DINGO lines and they were fast, worked great, and cheaper than TORO's.
the guys recommended above may be closer to your side of town.
(EDIT: they are one and the same :) )

* i have an old hose here you could use to take to them as a template and keep yours intact untill its ready

There is always the option of upgrading your lines to PSC hydraulic lines. You can get the adapters to convert your metric fittings to AN fittings and build your own line using field serviceable fittings. That's what I did and I love it, way easier to work on and is much more durable than the factory rubber lines. :grinpimp:

Thanks guys, as soon as I get done walking back from Plano TX (wtf) I'll check with Cross, and use OEM as a backup.

ETA? got a wrenching day in mind? I need to do mine as well if you want to do them at the same time. Got one of those garage things ? :D

Jason it looks as if it'll be next Wednesday or next weekend, I don't have the lines yet. I do have a garage, but your 80 is too tall for it (mine barely fits). ;)

Well, further affirmation Imadork. My power steering lines appear to be fine, it just seems my front main leak is getting worse; and the fan is blowing the oil around. If anyone's in the Holly Springs area this weekend and would like to take a peek to confirm this diagnosis, I'd appreciate it.

Joe, I wont be in the Holly springs area this weekend but would like to know more if thats your issue. If it helps you any I have the 80 sitting in the garage and it hasn't ran in 10 months. it is still leaking at power steering pump....only thing still attached to the engine, once it comes out I am going to rebuild.
