After months of being driven crazy with a constant squeal coming from my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 (5.7 Hemi), I decided to install a new power steering pump. Removed the serpentine belt, removed pump, installed new pump, reinstalled serpentine and thought I was virtually done. I then tried to bleed the new pump by getting my front wheels off of the ground and steering all of the way right then left. The squeal was gone but it was like a cement truck in the mud... no power steering!
I tried a couple more times to bleed.. nothing. I then turned my truck off and started looking around and underneath. That’s when this guy was lying near my front tire.... It is the power steering Flow Control Valve. The obvious culprit.
My question to you guys:
Does it go back into the pump? Does it go back into a hose? It’s not threaded. I cannot find any diagram showing where it goes...
Any ideas and/or guidance is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
