So I replaced the hose and added split loom conduit and zip ties to armor the whole downward portion. I've been monitoring it closely for knicks or cuts to anything. So far nothing at all. The heads of the zip ties are pointing out towards where the cut was before, so they'd likely be the first thing to receive contact if there was something rubbing. But again, nothing so far, and I just took a 300 mile trip to Idaho and back which involved some light off-roading. Took this pic when I got home. The previous gash was roughly near the 4th zip tie down in this picture. So yeah, I'm gunna chalk it up to a fluke or pre-existing damage that finally gave out.
